My blog is born!

Jandk Thanks for visiting! I'm still learning how to blog.

This blog is meant to be motivational for all kinds of creative people. I'll share my artistic lifestyle and help you jumpstart your creativity and keep you going.

That's Kirmizi with me in the photo. He's the youngest and most artistically-inclined member of my pet family and is a Turkish Angora. He's very involved in all my creative endeavors, and has put his paw print on many of my paintings, drawings, writing and has also been known to sink a fang or two into my papiermache. He's also an aspiring cat writer, and will take over the keyboard when the muse inspires him.

Kings of the Castle

Kings Here are Sing Song and Li Fi on the top of the cat castle. That scruffy-looking plant behind them is their cat grass, conveniently within snacking distance.

I plan to use this photo as a reference for a future painting.

WIP Cat Painting

Catpainting I've worked some more on the painting since I took this photo. It's now nearly done. It's hanging on my living room wall until I get time to finish it. Size: 39.4" by 47.2" (100cm by 120cm), acrylic on canvas. I deliberately exaggerated the hind quarters to make the cat appear more powerful. I use this style in my sculptures of cats, too.

All together

Catsjan08 I was relaxing on the couch after dinner and watching TV. The cats all settled on me and behind my knees. When I got up, I was able to take a group photo. I tried, "Say mouse", but couldn't get them all to look at the camera.

Cat Contortions

Katskiasleep I'll be using this pose as inspiration for a future project, either a painting or a papier-mache piece.

Sleeping Beauty

Katskisleeps2 I just had to take a picture of Katski in this pose. He's so adorable! Katski is a redpoint Siberian Forest Cat. A Siberian with point coloring is also called a Neva Masquerade.

Best Buddies

Company Triton's little friend, Kirmizi, lay down and played with him, then the two ended up falling asleep together. Although Triton gets on well with all the cats, he and Kirmizi are 'best buddies' and play together all the time.

Both Kirmizi and Sing Song like to bring cat nip mouse toys to Triton, and if he's not interested, they deposit them in his bed. I like to think they're leaving presents for him. I occasionally find a cat nip mouse in my bed, usually hidden under my pillow!

Displaced!

Tandcats Poor Triton! His beautiful throne bed has been taken over by three of his feline brothers and he's reduced to sleeping on the ceramic floor. But there's a fourth cat, not in the picture, who is watching him. See what happened in the next picture.

The Takeover

Threecats Here are the three masked trespassers: Li Fi, Sing Song and Katski. As soon as they  tried to cuddle up with Triton, he left the bed. They don't mind, as he left it nice and warm for them. See what happened in the next two pictures.

Triton's Bed

Tritonbed Here's Triton, lying in his bed, trying to stake his rightful claim to it. What you can't see in this picture, are three cats who want to sleep with him. You'll see what happens in the next two pictures.

Masked Invaders

Maskedones They look so innocent, don't they? These are two of my masked boys, Li Fi and Sing Song. Li Fi (on the left) is a sealpoint Thai, the European version of a traditional/old-fashioned Siamese. Sing Song is on the right. They are napping in Triton's bed. Triton is my giant dog. He's a Leonberger.
